Little River Band
Little River Band celebrates its 50th anniversary with Happy Anniversary Tour performing with The Florida Rock Symphony and special guest John Waite at The BayCare Sound in Downtown Clearwater on Saturday, March 29 at 7 pm.
The Eagles founding member, the late Glenn Frey, knew what he was saying when he dubbed Little River Band “the best singing band in the world.” Through the ‘70’s and ‘80’s, LRB enjoyed huge chart success with multiplatinum albums and chart topping hits like: Cool Change, The Night Owls, Happy Anniversary, Reminiscing, Lonesome Loser, Take It Easy On Me, Help Is on Its Way, We Two, Man On Your Mind, The Other Guy and It’s A Long Way There.
Worldwide album, CD sales and digital downloads now top 35 million and LRB has set a record for having had Top 10 hits for six consecutive years - In fact, they were the very first band to achieve that remarkable status! According to BMI, Reminiscing has garnered rare status with over 5 million airplays on American radio, and Lady is close behind with over 4 million airplays.
Bassist/vocalist Wayne Nelson joined the band in 1980. He worked alongside founding members with some of the most distinctive harmonies and vocal abilities, creating the unique LRB sound. In 1981, Nelson was recognized by world renowned Beatles producer Sir George Martin whom, while producing Time Exposure, chose Nelson to record lead vocals on two of the band’s biggest hits, The Night Owls and Take It Easy On Me. Later that same year guitarist extraordinaire Stephen Housden joined LRB bringing a rock element into the band’s sound and helped contribute to their string of Top 10 hits. As band members departed, both Housden and Nelson worked together to bring LRB into the new millennium.
Currently, Little River Band has released two singles from their new album Window To The World. They have released the title cut and the current single is First Time, with the full album being released later this year. With 90 -100 dates being scheduled for their 2024-2025 tour, Little River Band is hotter than ever selling out shows and making music coast to coast continuing their legacy of being “the best singing band in the world.”
Little River Band is Wayne Nelson (Lead Vocals/Bass), Chris Marion (Keyboards/Vocals), Ryan Ricks (Drums/Percussion/Vocals), Colin Whinnery (Lead Guitar/Lead Vocals) and Bruce Wallace (Guitar/Vocals).
Fresh off a summer tour with Styx and Foreigner, John Waite returns to Clearwater to perform his catalogue of hits from his 40-year career with his electric band. Waite’s catalogue of hits features some of the most loved songs of the 80s and 90s – the #1 Worldwide hit Missing You, The Baby’s Isn't It Time and Bad English When I See You Smile rank amongst some of his biggest international hits and are still heard on radio today. Others include Tears, Change and These Times Are Hard For Lovers. Every Step Of The Way and If Anybody Had A Heart appeared on the soundtrack to the 1986 Demi Moore film About Last Night. Deal for Life, penned by Martin Page and Bernie Taupin, was featured in the Days Of Thunder soundtrack.
As a solo artist and as the lead singer of The Baby’s and Bad English, John Waite was a fixture of album-oriented rock radio stations during the '70s and '80s. John Waite had a talent for power ballads and driving arena rock, occasionally touching on new wave-styled power pop as well.
